Working with people is what I love to do.
I’m part of the Out and Out Club, which runs group activities for people living with disabilities.
Everyone in the group works together to create an exciting program of activities that we all look forward to.
I love being able to just get out into the community and enjoy the activities we’ve planned together.
Our program runs in the Mount Alexander region for a good reason. That is, the Out and Out Club members are all local to the Castlemaine district. So we’re building important social and community connections for people where they live.
We’ll often use external venues and providers to complement the program. We know that people look forward to the visits and outings and we’re always looking for new ideas for things to do together.
But we’re also mindful that our members love relying on favourite activities. So we make sure that the program has lots of craft and games nights in our regular venue.
It’s so rewarding being part of a team that celebrates people’s creativity through quizzes, word games and group activities.
What makes our group special is the engagement and empathy we have with the group. Genuine connections with families and people’s support systems are so important.
